Most short trips start with one paperwork check: getting the Singapore Visiting Visa for Indians before locking in non-refundable plans. Singapore calls this an entry visa, and for ordinary Indian passport holders it is usually handled through an authorized visa agent or a local contact in Singapore.

The safest timing is simple: apply within 30 days before arrival, leave at least a full working week for processing, and do not treat approval as permission to stay for the whole visa validity. The stay length is decided at the checkpoint when Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority issues the Visit Pass.

Do Indians Need A Visa For Singapore?

Indian citizens with ordinary Indian passports need a Singapore entry visa before visiting for tourism, family visits, or short business trips. Indian diplomatic, official, and service passport holders are treated differently and do not follow the ordinary tourist-visa path.

A Singapore visa is pre-entry permission to travel to Singapore and seek entry. The checkpoint officer still decides the actual entry and the period of stay, so the visa copy, passport validity, funds, return or onward ticket, and SG Arrival Card all matter on arrival.

For a normal holiday, plan around these two separate checks:

  • Before travel: secure the entry visa and carry the printed or digital e-Visa copy.
  • Before arrival: submit the SG Arrival Card within three days of arrival, including the day you land.
  • At the checkpoint: show documents if asked and read the e-Pass email for the last day of stay.

Singapore Visa For Indian Travelers: Fees, Forms, Timing

A Singapore entry visa from India is usually filed through an authorized visa agent, and the India mission pages list 3 to 5 working days as the normal processing window. Some applications take longer, so leave spare time if your travel date sits near a weekend or holiday.

The official visa processing fee is S$30, which is about $23. In India, the Singapore missions currently list the visa fee as INR 2,100, about $22, and authorized agents may charge a fixed service fee around INR 1,000, about $10.

How The Application Works From India

The Singapore visa application from India moves through an authorized visa agent, a Singapore local contact, or the approved online channel used by those parties. ICA states on its India visa requirements page that Indian travel document holders need a visa, with Form 14A, a recent photo, and a passport biodata-page copy among the core documents.

Applicants in India normally prepare the documents, submit them to an authorized agent for online filing, then wait for the visa result. If approved, the agent or local contact can provide the e-Visa printout.

  1. Confirm your passport has at least 6 months of validity from the Singapore entry date.
  2. Fill Form 14A carefully, using the same spelling and passport number shown in your passport.
  3. Prepare a recent passport photo, passport biodata-page copy, and any travel or stay details requested by the agent.
  4. Ask whether Form V39A, the Letter of Introduction, is needed for your case.
  5. Pay the visa fee and service fee only through the authorized submission channel.
  6. Use the visa reference number to check status and print the e-Visa if approved.

Document check: Hindi documents and official notes should be translated into English before submission.

What The Visa Does Not Cover

A Singapore entry visa does not set your allowed stay length. The Visit Pass issued on arrival sets the actual stay period, and the e-Pass email shows the last day you may remain in Singapore.

Several travelers mix up visa validity and stay validity. A visa may let you seek entry during its validity window, but the checkpoint officer decides how long you can stay after reviewing the trip purpose and entry requirements.

Before flying, make sure these items are ready:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months from the entry date.
  • A valid Singapore e-Visa copy, unless you qualify for the 96-hour transit facility.
  • SG Arrival Card submission within three days before arrival.
  • Proof of onward or return travel, if asked.
  • Enough funds for your stay and hotel details that match your plan.

Can Indians Use The 96-Hour Visa-Free Transit Facility?

Indian nationals may use Singapore’s 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility only when they are transiting through Singapore to or from a third country and meet the document rules. A regular India to Singapore to India holiday does not qualify because there is no third country.

For Indian travelers, the VFTF usually requires an onward air, ferry, or cruise ticket leaving Singapore within 96 hours, plus a valid visa or long-term pass with at least one month of validity from one of these places: Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, or the United States.

The VFTF is assessed at the checkpoint, and extension is not allowed. If your route or third-country visa does not match the rule cleanly, apply for a Singapore entry visa instead of relying on transit entry.

Where To Stay After The Visa Is Approved

Singapore hotel planning is easiest after the visa is approved and the arrival date is firm. Orchard suits shopping-heavy trips, Marina Bay works well for first-time sightseeing, Little India keeps food and MRT access easy, and Bugis is a practical middle ground for short stays.

Send A Clean Application

A strong Singapore visa file for Indian travelers is boring in the right way: matching names, readable scans, current photos, correct fees, and no missing forms. The goal is to make the officer’s check simple.

Use this order before submission:

  • Check passport validity first, because every other document depends on it.
  • Apply within 30 days before arrival, with a buffer for weekends and holidays.
  • Use only the Singapore mission’s authorized visa-agent route for your area.
  • Do not buy a non-refundable flight just to apply; official India mission guidance says applicants are not required to buy a ticket before applying.
  • Print or save the e-Visa after approval and submit the SG Arrival Card close to travel.
  • Read the e-Pass email after entry, because that date controls your allowed stay.

For most Indian tourists, the clean path is an authorized-agent e-Visa application, 3 to 5 working days of processing, and a final document check before departure. Use the 96-hour transit facility only when your route and third-country visa fit the rule exactly.
