Delta Seat Upgrades: Every Way To Move Up

Delta offers four main paths to a higher cabin: buy the higher cabin when booking, purchase a post-ticketing offer, redeem SkyMiles, or use an eligible status benefit or Upgrade Certificate. The right path depends on the ticket, route, operating carrier, and cabin inventory.

Complimentary Upgrades Through Medallion Status

Medallion members can request complimentary upgrades to Delta Comfort and Delta First, plus domestic Delta Premium Select and domestic Delta One on eligible flights within the 50 United States. Delta Main Basic tickets do not qualify, and international Delta Premium Select or Delta One seats do not clear as complimentary Medallion upgrades.

For Delta First and domestic Delta Premium Select, Diamond and Platinum members can clear from 120 hours before departure, Gold members from 72 hours, and Silver members from 24 hours, when inventory is released. Upgrade Certificates For Platinum And Diamond Members

A certificate normally moves the traveler one cabin above the cabin purchased.
